OB5000 Portable High Capacity Modulator & Demodulator Leaves a Big Impression
MRC, a Vislink Company, won the highly coveted TV Technology STAR Award at the recent IBC convention in Amsterdam. The TV Technology Superior Technology Award was given to MRC in recognition of the OB5000 Portable High Capacity Microwave System.
“We are extremely excited to win this award for our new OB5000 platform”, stated Tony Finizio, President of MRC. “The OB5000 will benefit our customers by combining the latest high capacity transmission technologies with advanced control and monitoring to provide the most complete digital solution for OB applications.”
The OB5000 is MRC’s latest generation of radio platforms designed to address the need for high capacity data thru put requirements for portable microwave links in support of outside broadcast using split system (two box) applications. It is compatible with MRC’s existing RF Heads and supplies the necessary control and baseband feature set expansion required to support the next generation of digital and data applications. The OB5000 is the perfect choice for simultaneous distribution of high definition (HD) and standard definition (SD) high data rate signals for contribution applications from the field that requires a quick deployment. It is also a logical choice to support high data thru put for network restoration applications that require a speedy but temporary installation for connectivity between LANS. It will offer the user the capability to support combined data rates of 155 Mbps, with growth up to 175 Mbps, through a wide variety of user interface ports such as ASI, SDI, HD-SDI, Ethernet and analog video, and an integral multiplexer for combining several streams. The built in multiplexer uses the latest in technology for bit processing, where four simultaneous input streams are processed independently allowing independent application support which is unique to the MRC standard MPEG multiplexer products.
Now in its eighth year, the STAR Award (for Superior Technology Award Recipient) is designed to celebrate and showcase the preeminent technological innovations available to the media industry. A panel of judges consisting of TV Technology editors and columnists reviewed a variety of products and services, examined the technical applications and their overall contribution to the industry, and then submitted their award nominees.
